A national commission headed by Eric Schmidt of Google made a series of recommendations to keep pace with China’s massive investment in AI as well as its significant strides in public-private cooperation. After reviewing the commission’s report as well as another report by the Congressional Research Service on AI, we conclude that the US intends to go down a road of “China-lite”. It just might be capitalism with socialist characteristics.
